Statement of the The Omnigma Organization on Living and Learning - in an ideal yet practical form this statement is still in the formative state. |
We consider Living and Learning to be inseparable and unending. Learning can involve individuals learning by observation and deduction or a student(s) and teacher setting. However, without caution, either can cause inaccurate lessons to be learned, which is sometimes worse than ignorance. And, the different forms Learning takes when different people attempt to educate others is a cause for concern. Honesty must guide all instruction. Also, instructor proficiency and wisdom are necessary. The implications of different forms of Teaching and Learning are dramatic in their impact on people, especially developing minds. The impact can be positive or negative. These forms are •Learning while Making a Living, •Learning while Living, •Structured Learning, •Indoctrinating and •Propagandistic brainwashing In order for Structured Learning to be effective, the process must involve: Open Questions - The student should consider the topic carefully and be allowed to ask any question. Honest Answers - The answers be must objective, carefully thought out and complete And, often multiple sets of questions and answers are required to fully satisy the educational process. Just like communication, Structured Learning (instructor and student) is a two step process. The information presented to the student must be clear. And, the student must communicate that they understand the information (often by paraphrasing it back to the instructor) |
